Pilin' on the Red & Green

The theme this week at Pile It On is Red & Green. You can use any shade of these colors! We're sponsored by Dr. Digi's House of Stamps and I used their Naughty or Nice digi stamp to create a joy fold card.

The door, wreath & bow are cut files from Bird's Cards.

For the inside of the door, I used a free printable from Rooftop Post.

The card base is a double-sided DP. Here's a view of the inside before I added a white message section:

Más vale tarde que nunca

I took a break from holiday cards to make an early (or late) Día de Muertos card featuring Dilly Beans Stamp #340, Frida's sugar skull. I practiced my Spanish (well, sorta!) and was inspired by two of my favorite Spanish-language blogs, Dilo en Español and Latina Crafter.

The sentiment is from the Queremos Pastel set by Dilo en Español Stamps. My husband picked out this cool sugar skull Washi tape for me at the craft store and I have had so much fun using it. The 3D skull was a gift from a friend. The patterned papers are all from Graphic 45's Fashionista collection.

Mom sent me some colored embossing markers (Marvy) and I just had to try them out! I colored the image with those markers (black, red, green, white) & Copics, and heat-embossed it with clear powder. I like the raised effect.

We're hoping to get to Mexico next year, for our family's semi-regular get-together. I really need to practice my Spanish!

Christmas + Ribbon with Crafting with Dragonflies

This fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies our theme is Christmas + Ribbon. I raided my ribbon stash to make the tree; the star-studded ribbon is actually pieces of a collar my dog Walt wore when he was just a tiny puppy 10 years ago! I used a modified version of the Ribbon Frame Technique for the border.

Be sure to check out the gorgeous cards by my Crafting with Dragonflies teamies.

The backing papers are pre-glittered Core'Dinations cardstocks. Mom gifted me the metallic doiles; I cut down a gold one for the tree stump. The gold star is a patch, and I added some sequins & beads with Glossy Accents.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Crafty Gals Corner: Use Scraps (scrap ribbon & paper)
Simon Says Stamp: Christmas (2nd entry)
A Snowflakes Promise: Winter or Christmas Theme
The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up: Sparkle, sparkle everywhere (FT/2nd entry)

Pink Thanksgiving

I just had to try my hand at another Concertina/Accordion Style Card, so I made this Thanksgiving card for a friend who loves all things pink!

The pumpkin is a sticker; the pumpkin was originally white, but I colored it with a pink Sharpie. The gold leaves are a ribbon. The sentiment on the side is heat-embossed in sparkly white powder, and I added some gold & leaf stickers.

Warm & Fuzzy

I can't get enough of this sweater Silhouette cut file from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons. I decorated this sweater with a digi stamp I won from The East Wind recently, Tuxedo Cat 'Rang'.

I kept the design fairly simple to let everything shine. I added green flocking to the cat's hat, and a bit of ribbon for the scarf. The sentiment is heat-embossed in white & the pawprints are heat-embossed in shiny green.

I was also slightly inspired by this funny ad by Temptations cat treats:

We don't own cats, but I'm secretly hoping that my neighbor will ask me to watch her cats during the holidays... No way they'd let me dress them up though!

CAS + Food or Drink with the Crafter's Cafe

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge theme is CAS + Food or Drink. We're sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and Art by Miran. I used Sugar and Spice and Cute Puppy by Bugaboo. I made a notch swing card for our niece's birthday; her folks are raising her without strict gender roles so I played on the old "Sugar & Spice" / "Snails & Puppydog Tails" saying.

I colored the images with Copic markers, adding some glitter embossing powder to the sugar. I used a Tim Holtz stencil to add a splash of "sugar" to the bottom of the card in the same glitter embossing powder. The sentiment is a sticker, and the tiny buttons were heat-embossed with neon powders. I stitched the buttons onto the card with glittery thread.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Brown Sugar: No Patterned Paper
Fab 'n' Funky: Clean & Simple
Pattie's Creations: Birthday + Digi stamp

Sweet Winter Wishes

I've been intrigued by this style of Concertina / Accordion Style Card since I saw Ane Lene's gorgeous version.

I can't get enough of this sweater Silhouette cut file from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons.I raided my holiday scrap stash for the patterned papers, and used a good bit of a DCWV paper pack that I've had for years. I'm particularly pleased with the scarf, which I made with a bit of ribbon from my stash.

Sweater Gift Card Holder

I've had lots of fun making cards with this cute Silhouette cut file from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons, and this time I incorporated a gift card holder into my design.

The sweater is hung with a clothes hanger-shaped paperclip from a jingle bell brad. The gift card clips easily to the back.

The stocking on the sweater is a sticker, as is the little gift on the inside. The card base is a lovely double-sided DP. The white shape is die-cut and dry embossed with a chevron pattern. I heat-embossed a SU! stamp in green onto it, and embossed the same stamp in white on the back of the sweater (not pictured). The strip on the inside & the sentiment are heat-embossed in the same green.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Cards und More: Recipe Challenge - 2 colors + neutral (Green & Blue + White), 3 papers (Sparkly Green, Shiny White, Double-sided DP), 4 embellishments (Stocking sticker, Jingle bell, Paperclip, Brad) + Stamp
Classy Cards 'n Such: Mittens and/or Stockings

Merry Sweater Weather

I couldn't wait to make another card using this cute Silhouette cut file from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons! This time, I decorated the sweater with tiny buttons.

The sweater is cut from a pre-glittered Core'Dinations cardstock, and the cuffs are heat-embossed with the same WOW! embossing powder that I used for the sentiment on the gold paper. I heat-embossed white buttons in glitter green & gold and attached them to the sweater with Glossy Accents. I then hand-stitched the jingle bell on top and the buttons with red thread. The felt poinsettia & leaves are from my stash, and I attached them with a jingle bell brad.

Simply Soft Sweater

When I saw Janis's gorgeous card over at PDE, I just had to buy this Ugly Sweater cut file from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons (via the Silhouette store).

I used sticky embossing powder to cover the sweater with green flocking (note to self: buy more green flocking!) and decorated it with fabric stickers from American Crafts. I stamped the sentiment in brown ink on watercolor paper and folded it to make a tag. The papers are from my stash, and I added a stitched border with a dark gold gel pen. Think I'll make a bunch of these!
